Postcarding for the Planet

Postcarding for the Planet

This Sunday we are writing environmental postcards.  There are a bunch of important bills sitting in Congress and Sacramento and we are letting our electeds know what we think of them.

The thing is, these bills are about boring things like natural gas, drilling in the Arctic, public utilities fees, and solar energy buy backs.  But just because they are snoozaroo, doesn’t mean they aren’t important.  That said, it’s next to impossible for most of us to keep track of them.  But you know who DOES:

POLLY ESTABROOK.  Polly is our local eco leader – AND a former JPL scientist! Polly is ON this stuff. And because she is an actual scientist she isn’t afraid to admit what she doesn’t understand and then do the work to educate herself, and then us.  We are so lucky to have Polly in our tribe.  Remember the amazing eco fair we hosted? That was all Polly!

Polly has now organized this postcarding event. She is hosting it too. Please come and participate.  It won’t take long.  She has 8 cards for each of us to write to our reps in congress, the assembly etc.  Also, Larissa Dooley, who oversees the Future Fighters, an eco group for kids, is bringing 4th and 5th graders over to write cards too.  This is a GREAT action for folks with families.

So come celebrate the trees, and feel the awe, by writing some postcards with HODG.
