DIDI WATTS – SCHOOL BOARD, District 1
I don't know much about our education system. I know it’s broken. I know the charter system has not lived up to its initial expectations. And I know the teachers’ unions seem to have so much power that the whole mission – educating our children – gets overlooked. But I have no vision about how to fix it. I don’t think many of the leaders in the field do either. You know who does? Didi Watts!
Dr. Watts is running to represent district 1 (South LA to San Pedro) on the LAUSD school board. She is a lifelong educator – 27 years! – She was a public school teacher, then a school psychologist, now Chief of Staff of another board member. I know Didi though her husband, Peter Watts. The two of them are founders of Watts of Power, an amazing non-profit that inspires and supports Black men to become elementary school teachers. Check them out HERE.
Didi and Peter have 3 adult children, all of whom are educators. One, Avery Watts, was the PE teacher at Larchmont Charter and may have taught a bunch of your kids. Teaching is in their blood. It’s who the Watts family is. Please come Meet + Greet + Support Didi. She knows how to make our schools better.
