CANVASSING
Come canvassing (aka door knocking) with HODG!
We know it can feel super scary and uncomfortable to knock on strangers’ doors. What do you say? What if they’re mean? But we promise - it’s much easier than it seems. And we do it together as a group so it’s FUN!
And here's the thing: the best, most effective way to actually persuade voters and get out the vote is with face to face conversations. Most people are not like us. They have no idea who's running to represent them. Also, most of the places where we door knock are not in LA. They're in places like Lancaster and Corona, where people don't get angry that someone is knocking on their door. In fact, 9/10 people, when they realize you are there to actually listen to them, are happy to chat.
The goal of these conversations is not to be an expert about your candidates stance on health care. It's to get folks to know your candidate's name. That's it. Because then, when they get literature, or a postcard (!!!) they recognize the name, and are moved by the fact that some nice person took time out of their day to talk to them about the candidate, and then they start paying a little more attention.
Make sense?
Over the next month or so, we are door knocking in CA-41 (for Will Rollins) and CA-27 (For George Whitesides.). We want you to come with us! We will show you the ropes. We will drive you there. We will have good snacks. We will get to know one another.
Postcards are great, but if you really want to make change, knocking on doors is the ticket.
Join us and the Will Rollins for Congress team to knock on doors in Corona, talk to voters and work to flip CA-41 from red to blue!
