HODG Santa Cruz
Sunday Lunch Drive
Thank you so much for joining us in helping feed our neighbors!
Here’s everything you need to know:
The lunch drive happens the FIRST Sunday of the month.
You make lunches at home or in a group with friends!
Most folks make about 5-10 lunches, but you can make as many as you’d like.
Label the bag with the type of sandwich.
Be generous. This is the only meal these folks get all day.
Lunches should contain at least 7 items:
A drink — water, capri sun, soda
Sandwich — PB+J, turkey, ham + cheese are most common
Potato Chips — individually packaged
Fruit — oranges, apple sauce, bananas, no apples: too hard on teeth
Cookies — individually packaged
A snack — beef jerky, granola bar, nuts, etc.
No glass.
No alcohol.
Some people decorate their bags. Not required- but much appreciated.

Lastly, drop your lunches off at: 123 Pilkington Ave, Santa Cruz, CA 95062 by 9:30am
If you are making lunches on a Saturday night, please be sure to store the sandwiches in a cool place or refrigerator.
And don’t forget to do the following when putting together lunch bags:
Wash your hands
Wear gloves
Keep your hair tied back
Use pre-packaged food
And keep your working space clean and safe

After you drop off your lunches, we drive them over to DSA Santa Cruz 'Love Boat', a mutual aid group. This Mutual Aid Working Group meets weekly to distribute food, hygiene and first aid supplies to the unhoused community in Santa Cruz. Working from a theory of mutual aid, we aim to build networks of social solidarity between the housed and the unhoused to effectively combat anti-homeless politics and meet essential needs. https://dsasantacruz.org/efforts/

The goal is 30 lunches, so you can make 5 or more. Any excess lunches will be donated to Food Not Bombs but they only accept vegetarian offerings.
