HODG SHABBAT

Shabbat was created for moments like this. When it all feels like it’s unravelling. We come together, light some candles, say some prayers and enjoy a good meal with each other. And before we know it, we’re all feeling better about things.  

 This go-around, the great and awesome grassroots organizer SAUL SARABIA will be leading a discussion about LA’s YOUTH JUSTICE SYSTEM.  

 Saul, Helen, Peggy and a few other HODG members have been meeting with Supervisor Lindsey Horvath’s Justice Deputy -- you've all been invited! -- about what’s happening in the Juvenile detention center (Los Padrinos).  These talks have been fruitful for everyone and Saul is going to share what’s been going on, and how we all can get involved.

 People are horrified -- as they should be -- by what's happening to Israeli and Palestinian children, but there are children right here in Los Angeles who are DYING in our institutions. They deserve our attention, and our outrage too.  

So, come for the discussion, come for the food, come for light, or for the community. Just come!
