DYING-IN LOS ANGELES
Let’s talk about street safety in LA. Everyone talks about LA crime, but here’s the truth: violent crime in our city is down. It’s traffic fatalities that are up. In fact, last year there were more traffic fatalities -- 330 -- than homicides. So if you want to be concerned about something it should be that!
These traffic deaths included includes fatal hit-and-runs, and fatal pedestrian and bicycle collisions. The vast majority are the result of impaired driving – phone distractions and DUI’s.
This is not okay.
Which is why STREET ARE FOR EVERYONE, and a coalition of road safety orgs are coming together in a peaceful protest to bring attention to more safety on the roads. This Saturday people who care about the safety of our streets and want our elected officials to do something about it, are staging a DIE-IN at City Hall.
Like her sign says -- Drive (and protest) like your son died here. Please join. Thank you Jane S. for bringing this to our attention!
