A Call to Men

CHANGING CULTURE WITH CULTURE: A CALL TO MEN

Our youngest son is at an all boys prep school in New England. The things he tells me about how the boys on his team talk, about women, about each other, about anyone who’s different, but especially about gay men… it’s shocking. Althought it probably shouldn’t be since these young men are trapped in a “box” that requires them to be strong, powerful, dominating, and emotionless.  Even when they feel none of those things.

When John and I learned what was going on at the school, we picked up the phone and called Ted Bunch, one of the co-founders of A Call To Men and arranged for them to go to the school.

A Call to Men is a non-profit that helps men break out of that “box” so they can feel healthy, and authentic in their manhood.  And be loving and respectful to all, especially themselves.  For over 20 years, ACTM has been working with professional sports leagues – the NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, – corporations, the US Military, The US Department of Justice, colleges etc. to bring healthy manhood everywhere.

** A Call to Men was introduced to me by the amazing Chelsey Goodan, who is currently on tour for her book Underestimated: the Wisdom and Power of Teenage Girls.  Yes, girls are Chelsey’s focus, but she knows that for women to enjoy healthy, fulfilling lives, they need men who also enjoy healthy, fulfilling lives.  Which is why Chelsey is co-hosting this event for A Call to Men.  I hope you can all join.  I promise.  It will be inspiring.
