LCI Call-to-Action

Hear ye. Hear ye.  All Angelenos, Burbank-ites, and Santa Monicans! Come get a quick, virtual update on your LOCAL LCI, and find out how you can help make your city more affordable, sustainable, and livable. (Hint: it's super easy! But few of us actually do it!)

For the LCI virgins among us: please log on at 7pm for a 10 minute primer on what the Livable Communities Initiative is.  (Hint: it's a housing/mobility/climate plan for Los Angeles that combines gentle density (3-5 stories), affordable buildings, with car-light walkable streets near high opportunity areas (think Westwood Village, 3rd Street Promenade, Upper Larchmont).)

For LCI Vets: come on at 7:30pm for an update and action plan (Hint: The LCI is currently at the LA Department of Planning, which is supposed to send a report back to the city council by the end of June.  We have next-to-no idea where the planning folks are at regarding the plan, but here is what we DO know: That the LA City Council does not seem serious about solving our housing crisis.

How can I say that?

Because… for a year-and-a-half, we’ve been meeting with Councilmembers, and for all that time, they’ve found one reason after another  – it’s not our district’s turn, you need more constituents to call me, you need to get the other council members on board, we will look at this and get back to you  – to blow us off. Look, if they had a better plan, fantastic!  Let's hear it!  But they don’t. Not only that, they claim we have an emergency on our hands, but they act as if there’s all the time in the world to solve it.  Here’s the truth: these folks -- who work for us! -- need to be pushed.  And the only people who can do that pushing is us.

If you care about Los Angeles, if you want to do something about homelessness, and the climate crisis, come on this Zoom and we'll fill you in.
