CITY GREENS COMMUNITY FARM…
…is the future and the present and if you don’t know about it, you must! Using vacant commercial space, City Greens grows fresh food right in the heart of LA – actually Beverly Hills. Its founder – Jen Levy, who taught both my kids 1st grade at TIOH, is a master farmer and has devoted her life – and her org – to increasing wellness, food security, environmental stewardship and community connection through farming.
If you were at the HODG Eco Fair, you may have met Jen and tasted her greens. Even me, who isn’t a big leafy green lover, flipped out over Jen’s lettuce, which tasted like tangy lemon. Seriously, it doesn’t even require salad dressing! If you missed it, you have an opportunity to taste –and buy – this delicious food and support this important, forward-thinking program.
On Sat, Aug 5, City Greens Community Farm is hosting a drive up farm stand. This is a great opportunity for us all to go by the farm and purchase just harvested produce. Like they will harvest specifically for you!! If you can’t make it, please consider visiting the farm another day. And supporting. Seriously. Also, City Greens has lots of farming classes, where we can learn how to turn our space into a place to grow food.
